With 22 years’ combined experience, the team at Walton Chiropractic is skilled in a range of chiropractic techniques. We assess the right treatment for your pain, getting to the source of the problem for effective, long-term results. We find it can be useful for patients to have an idea of what to expect from our care, so we have produced this guide which explains some of the techniques our chiropractors use. We successfully treat all types of musculoskeletal pain, including back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and leg pain.
With a clinic in Leamington Spa, we welcome patients from across Warwickshire, including Coventry.
This is an adjustment of a joint which is stiff and painful. Your chiropractor will take up the slack in the joint while you relax completely. The aim is to induce a split-second stretch to the joint capsule, muscles and tissue fibres. A slow stretch triggers a natural resistance from the tissues, so it is important for it to be a quick movement.
Chiropractic adjustment often produces a ‘crack’. The main effect is a neurological response, creating a wave of relaxation in the joint tissues and restoring mobility.
Dry needling is a form of acupuncture we offer to patients in Coventry and the surrounding areas, where suitable. Unlike other acupuncture, dry needling is only for pain control. It involves inserting a needle at different points, stimulating trigger points to help release tension and pain.
Dry needling can be effective for a range of issues, including neck pain, back pain and leg pain.
This is a very gentle form of adjustment available to our Coventry and Warwickshire patients. Our chiropractors use a specialist activator adjusting instrument which is a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument. This tool allows us to provide a quick, low-force impulse at specific points while you are lying down. Patients generally feel a quick tapping sensation.
Some applications of this method include the treatment of back, neck, knee and shoulder pain.
This method involves applying pressure to trigger points using a thumb or finger. This lasts for a few seconds, followed by a massage. We can also treat trigger points with the dry needling method.
People from Coventry and the surrounding areas come to us for custom orthotics. Also called insoles or shoe inserts, orthotics are medical devices used to correct foot posture and irregular walking patterns.
Custom orthotics involve an examination and gait assessment and hands-on treatment to reduce tissue tension and prepare joints. We then provide heat-moulded orthotics which provide the perfect fit and superior comfort.
Orthotics address all types of foot injuries and pain, including ankle pain. Furthermore, by correcting imbalances in the movement patterns of feet, orthotics can help with knee and back pain.
